Swati Kumari Interview – Without A goodbye Book

Swati Kumari completed her MBA from National School of Business, Bangalore. She also did International Management from ESC-Pau, France. She is currently an author. Let us know more about her writing and her book.

What inspired you to start writing?

I wrote my first poem when I was studying in class 6th. My English teacher, Alok Sarkar, gave an assignment to write a poem. I was the first and one among 5 who completed the assignment and submitted. And since then I started to love talking with blank papers and pen.

Writing a poem or a story gives me the immense pleasure and the huge satisfaction. I always dreamt and desired to see my work as books and that is my motivation.

What did you like to read when you were a girl?

I like to read different genre of books.
During my school days, I have read books from Charles Dickens, Malgudi Days by RK Narayan, Ruskin Bond. Later during my college, I started exploring the work of Prem Chand, Kamla Das, Taslina Nasreen, Shobha De.
I have also read books by Robin Sharma, vikram Seth, Chetan Bhagat, Ravinder Singha and Sachin Garg in the new authors.

What is the greatest challenge in writing a book?

The greatest challenge in writing a book is to keep the track, getting through the writer’s block and complete the story.
Every phase of writing a book bring a new challenge.

How much research do you do before writing the book?

A good research before writing a fiction book makes a book influential.

Internet is the quickest way of research. Other than this, reading books, magazines, newspapers, travelling and interviewing people helped me to make it a realistic fiction so that a reader could connect himself with the characters and the story.

What motivated you to write the book “Without A goodbye”?

Before writing Without A Goodbye, I was working on a different story. Suddenly an incident happened in my life that changed the world around me.

The pain inside was sinking me into a dark world. I wanted to scream and cry, but at the same time, I was controlling my pain to come out in front of everyone.

There was only one thing to help me coming out of that dark world and that was to share my pain with someone. And I couldn’t find any one better than the blank pages.

How did you come up with the idea of writing fiction genre book?

Fiction book let you live and experience virtually so many different lives that you could imagine.

Who are your favourite authors?

Robin Sharma, Shobha De, Taslima Nasreen, Vikram Seth

How much time do you dedicate to writing on a daily basis?

I was not writing Without A goodbye, instead I was living with it.
It took nine months to complete Without A Goodbye.

What words of wisdom would you like to give to aspiring writers?

Writing a book is a long journey and the writer has to walk all alone.
We learn only by mistakes, so travel a lot, gain more experiences and keep writing.
