After completing her schooling from kailashahar government girls’ higher secondary school, Tripura, Dipanjana moved to Chennai and pursued an engineering degree followed by a Masters degree on IT Management from Illinois institute of technology, Illinois. Currently living in united States, Dipanjana is pursuing a career in literature and novel writing.
What inspired you to start writing?
Even though I was more of a science student in school, within my true self, I had always nurtured an idea of writing something someday. It’s my thoughts that inspired me to put them down on paper. They even drive me in sleep until I scribble them out!
What did you like to read when you were a girl?
Back in my childhood, I loved to read all kinds of children’s books. It could be a historical epic written in easy words or detective stories of Sherlock Holmes, Cartoon character stories or stories by Tagore.
What is the greatest challenge in writing a book?
Assigning a regular schedule for writing and following the same is the toughest challenge in a day to day life. Also driving my mind and keeping up the energy until I land a good piece of work, sometimes, is challenging.
How much research do you do before writing the book?
None for this one. Even though the protagonists of this story are imaginary, I have given them a mould with the experiences of my life and the places I’ve been to during my course of growing up.
What motivated you to write the book “Scandalous Disclosure”?
Hmm…my free time and an over thoughtful brain. Actually my husband, Vijay, is a constant motivation for everything new I try doing.
Can you tell us more about your latest book “Scandalous Disclosure”?
Sheela, an engineering graduate lived in the city of Chennai, plans to pursue higher education abroad, but her love affair with her boyfriend goes for a toss due to a merely thoughtful demand. Fighting with all odds, when she finally finds her true love, a disclosure of a cruel truth hammers the last nail in the coffin that leaves her heart broken. Whether she will be able to come out of her messed up life or accept defeat with a heavy heart is the story.
Scandalous Disclosure is all about the twist and turns of Sheela’s life that will mould her inner being and make her find love in all unexpected unusual places.
How did you come up with the idea of writing romantic fiction genre book?
I am a very romantic person within myself, even though people don’t think me that way. Jokes apart, its a genre I love to read. So, that could be the reason for approaching a romantic fiction. But I’ve plans to come up with different things too.
Who are your favourite authors?
Rabindranath Tagore, Jhumpa Lahiri, Jennifer cruise, Chetan Bhagat. More or less, love to read any good piece of work.
How much time do you dedicate for writing on a daily basis?
As I’ve been taking couple of courses on creative writing, I get a chance to write everyday but because of other commitments, its not always possible to maintain the routine. But I still try to pen down something on daily basis.
What words of wisdom would you like to give to aspiring writers?
I still haven’t gotten there that I could guide someone on this, but of course the five things I think necessary are
1. A good knowledge of English. ( so explore in every possible way)
2. A healthy thoughtful mind
3. Write on daily basis
4. Stay away from any kind of disturbances while writing and listen to what your mind says.
5. A good dictionary.
Oh yeah… And write your story in a ‘point by point’ manner and then elaborate them into chapters.
